Make a passport-size photo

Center-crop a photo to common passport and identity-photo dimensions locally in your browser.

Print-size labels show pixel equivalents at 300 DPI; exports do not embed a 300 DPI print setting. Check actual print size and the destination's photo requirements before submitting.

Preset processing runs locally in a worker.

Create a passport-style photo crop

Choose one of three fixed pixel presets for a centred portrait crop. The print-size labels describe pixel equivalents, not embedded print-resolution metadata or official acceptance.

Complete the task

  1. Choose a front-facing photo with adequate space around the head.
  2. Select the destination's published dimensions rather than guessing from a country name.
  3. Inspect headroom, shoulders and background before downloading.
Output
The centre crop removes content from the longer dimension and resamples the remaining portrait to the output size.
Verify
Verify current rules for head size, expression, background, recency and print resolution with the issuing authority.
Boundary
A correct file dimension cannot make an unsuitable pose, background or lighting compliant. No biometric compliance claim is made.

Prepare a photo's dimensions, then check the application requirements

This tool makes a centred crop and exports one image at a chosen preset size. Use it when you already have a suitable photograph and need the proportions or pixel dimensions changed. It does not assess your face, replace the background or decide whether an application will accept the result.

Check the destination's current print, pixel and file-size requirements separately. This tool has three fixed presets: 35 × 45 mm, 2 × 2 inch and Digital square. Use a separate resizer when the required pixels differ.

Choose a sizing workflow that matches the requested output

The required digital size matches a presetChoose that preset and verify the exported pixels. The presets produce 413 × 531, 600 × 600 and 512 × 512 pixels respectively.
The application requests a physical printSet and verify the physical print size in the printing workflow. A preset's 300-DPI equivalence does not force your printer to use that size or establish an embedded resolution setting.
The head is off-centre or the crop removes necessary spacePrepare the framing in Image editor first. This preset tool crops around the image centre and has no face detection or drag-to-position control.
The portal also limits file sizeInspect the actual exported bytes and use a separate compression step if needed. These photo presets do not provide a maximum-KB setting.

Check the 413 × 531 preset with a synthetic image

Use document-photo.png to understand the crop. It is a synthetic document image, not a portrait or an example suitable for an identity application.

  1. Choose the 1200 × 800 document-photo.png sample and select the 35 × 45 mm preset.
  2. Choose JPG as Output format. Inspect the portrait-shaped preview for parts of the wide source that will be cropped away.
  3. Select Make passport photo, download the result and confirm that Dimensions reports 413 × 531 pixels.
  4. Compare the download with the centre of the source image. Use the same framing check with your own suitable photograph before considering any application-specific checks.

Expected result. The wide sample becomes a portrait-shaped 413 × 531 image by discarding side areas and resampling the remaining centre. The test demonstrates crop geometry and output dimensions only; it does not evaluate portrait suitability or official acceptance.

Check the downloaded result

  • Compare the output pixel width and height with the destination's instructions. Do not infer acceptance from the preset name or a successful download.
  • Review headroom, shoulders, face position and background against the applicable instructions. The automatic centre crop cannot tell whether it has removed something required.
  • Inspect the photo at full resolution for blur, compression artifacts and inadequate source detail. Enlarging a small original creates more pixels without recovering facial detail.
  • Confirm the accepted format and byte limit. For a print, measure a test print rather than relying on how large the image appears on screen.

Troubleshooting

The crop cuts off the head or leaves the subject off-centre

The tool crops around the geometric image centre, not around a detected face.

Try this: Prepare a better-framed source or adjust its crop in Image editor, then run the preset again. Review all required space around the subject before export.

A correctly sized file is rejected by the application

Dimensions are only one part of acceptance. The receiving service may apply content, format, size or other requirements this tool does not evaluate.

Try this: Read the rejection message and current destination instructions. Correct the stated issue or obtain a suitable new photograph; repeatedly resizing cannot fix an unsuitable source.

The printed photo has the wrong physical size

Print software may fit the image to a page or use its own resolution setting. The file's pixel dimensions alone do not fix the print dimensions.

Try this: Set the requested physical size explicitly, disable unintended fit-to-page scaling, and measure a test print before preparing the final copy.

The exact requested size is not available

This page provides three fixed canvases and no custom width or height fields.

Try this: Use Image editor to establish the correct proportions, then Image resizer for the exact pixels. Keep the proportions consistent so the face is not stretched.

Limits and compatibility

Photo assessment
No biometric, background, expression, lighting, recency or official-compliance check runs here. The tool also does not generate a multi-photo print sheet.
Local export
The photograph is processed locally and exported as JPG or WebP. Choose the format accepted by the destination and keep the original as your source for future adjustments.

Your files and form values are processed on this device. Downloaded copies remain wherever you save them. See how to check local processing and our privacy policy for site data and optional services.

Common questions

Does the 35 × 45 mm button guarantee that print size?
It creates 413 × 531 pixels, approximately that physical size at 300 pixels per inch. You must still configure and check the printing workflow; the button does not control a printer.
Can the tool make any photo suitable for a passport?
No. It changes crop and size. Use a suitable source and the issuing authority's current requirements, including any restrictions on editing.
