Organize PDF pages
Merge, split, reorder, remove, extract, rotate, crop or resize PDF pages with practical tools for preparing one clean document.

Decide which pages to keep before changing their presentation
Reviewed . How we check our guidance
Page selection uses positions in the file, starting at 1. A cover or an unnumbered insert can make those positions different from the numbers printed on the pages. Inspect the source first, then separate selection, order and paper-size decisions.
Choose between nearby tools
- One smaller document or several separate files?
-
Extract pages combines a selection into one PDF in source order. Split PDF creates a separate file for each comma-separated page or range. Extracting 5,1 does not reverse the pages; use Organize PDF when order matters.
- Combine files or change an existing sequence?
-
Merge joins complete PDFs in the order you set. Organize changes the sequence inside a document. Remove pages is useful when it is simpler to name what should be left out; at least one page must remain.
- Correct a page or prepare a print layout?
-
Rotate corrects orientation. Crop changes the visible page boundary and is not a way to securely delete hidden content. Resize fits pages to a paper size; N-up puts several source pages on each output sheet and makes their contents smaller.
Build a review pack from selected pages and an appendix
Keep a copy of the source and note its page labels before making the pack. The five-page practice PDF provides a simple way to distinguish source labels from new file positions.
- Keep the requested pages
Select 1,3,5 from the five-page sample. Reopen the result and confirm those three visible source labels.
- Append the supporting document
Place the extracted file first and the appendix second. Check the total page count and the join between the two files.
- Number the finished pack
Add new page numbers only after the order is final. Avoid covering any original numbering the reader still needs.
Download and inspect each stage before selecting it in the next tool. The new file positions change after extraction or merging; do not reuse old page ranges without checking them.
Check the output before using it
- Compare the first page, last page and every merge boundary. A correct total count alone cannot reveal a duplicated or misplaced page.
- Check orientation, cropped edges and fine print. Use a full PDF viewer for interactive forms and annotations rather than relying only on thumbnails.
- For N-up output, disable another multiple-pages-per-sheet setting in the print dialog. Otherwise the already reduced pages are reduced a second time.
Limits and recovery
- A range is invalid or the output order is unexpected
- Use file positions, ordinary hyphens for ascending ranges and commas between groups. Choose Organize PDF for a deliberate new order instead of trying to reverse an extraction range.
- The source opens in a viewer but an operation fails
- Try PDF preview for the separate editing-compatibility check, or obtain a fresh export from the source application. A preview pass is not a guarantee that forms, bookmarks or every later operation will be preserved.
