Quick answers
- Can I remove every page from a PDF?
- No. A valid result must retain at least one page. If you only need a small section, choose the pages to keep with the extraction tool instead.
- Is removing a page the same as redacting part of it?
- No. Page removal excludes whole pages from the new document. Use secure redaction when confidential content appears inside a page that must remain.
Remove selected pages while keeping the remaining sequence
Use this tool to leave out blank backs, duplicate scans, separator sheets or unwanted appendices. You specify which source pages to remove, and the new PDF contains the remaining pages in their original order. At least one page must remain.
Page numbers refer to file positions starting at 1. A cover, insert or unnumbered introduction can make those positions differ from the page labels printed inside the document. Check the source and thumbnails before deleting a range from the sharing copy.

Remove pages 2 and 4 from the five-page sample
The sample's visible page labels make it easy to check the removal and the new file's reading order without using a personal document.
- Choose device-document-lab.pdf and select Load PDF pages. Confirm that five pages were found.
- Enter 2,4 in Pages to remove. These are the pages to discard, not the pages to keep.
- Select Remove selected pages. Download the new PDF when the result is ready.
- Open the download and read all three remaining pages. Their visible source labels should be 1, 3 and 5, in that order.
Expected result. The output should contain three pages. Source pages 2 and 4 should be absent from its page sequence, and the original sample should remain unchanged. Printed page labels on retained pages are not renumbered.
Check the downloaded result
- Compare the output-page count with the intended removal. For distinct selected pages, retained count equals source count minus the number removed.
- Inspect the pages before and after each removed section. A retained paragraph, chart or form can depend on a legend, explanation or terms page that was accidentally excluded.
- Review retained forms, comments, bookmarks and cross-page links. The output is made by copying pages into a new document and may not preserve every document-level relationship.
- Save the verified result under an identifiable name. Keep the source until the retained pages, their order and the recipient's requirements have all been checked.
Troubleshooting
- The tool refuses to remove my selection.
An out-of-range number, a descending range or a selection that removes every page is invalid. The result must contain at least one page.
Try this: Use file positions such as 2,4 or an ascending range such as 2-4. Check the page count and leave at least one source page unselected.
- The wrong pages disappeared.
The field lists pages to remove. Printed page numbers can differ from the source positions used by the tool.
Try this: Return to the original, compare file positions with the thumbnails, and enter the unwanted positions again. Use Extract PDF Pages if listing retained pages is clearer.
- A bookmark or reference points to the wrong place.
Removing pages changes document structure. Existing text references are not rewritten, and document-level navigation may not transfer correctly into the new copy.
Try this: Check the source references and repair them in an appropriate editor if they are required. Do not rely only on a normal-looking first page as evidence that navigation remains correct.
Limits and compatibility
- Selection and previews
- The tool does not detect blank or duplicate pages automatically. You can enter all, individual positions or ascending ranges, but removing all is rejected. Only the first bounded set of thumbnails may be visible on a large document.
- Local processing and disclosure
- The operation runs locally and creates a new PDF. It is not a forensic sanitisation process, does not erase the original, and does not prove that retained content contains no sensitive information. Unlock protected inputs with permission first and retain signed originals separately.

Common questions
- Can I restore a page after downloading?
- The tool does not keep an undo history. Start again from the original or merge the needed page back into a copy and then verify its position.
- Can I remove pages and reorder the rest in one step?
- Removal keeps the remaining source order. Use Organize PDF afterward if that sequence also needs to change, then check the final document again.
