Arrange exact-size ID photos on a printable sheet

Crop one portrait to a selected physical size, position it without stretching, and repeat it on A4, Letter or 4 × 6 paper in a browser worker.

For a reliable result

  1. Choose a clear original portrait, then select the authority-specific size or enter the dimensions from your application.
  2. Adjust zoom and position, check the prepared pixel resolution, then choose paper, copy count, margins and cutting guides.
  3. Create the PDF, print one test sheet at Actual size or 100%, and measure the result before submitting it.

What changes

The browser creates a cropped JPG and a one-page print PDF without uploading the portrait. It does not replace the background, retouch the face or stretch the image.

Check the download

Confirm the current photo dimensions, face or head position, background, image age, paper, print quality and required number of copies with the receiving authority.

Know before processing

A correct outer size does not prove compliance. The tool cannot judge identity, facial biometrics, lighting, expression, background quality or whether home printing is accepted; some authorities require a commercial photographer.

Quick answers

Does the ID photo sheet guarantee passport or visa acceptance?
No. It creates the selected outer dimensions and print layout only. Acceptance can also depend on current head size and position, expression, lighting, background, image age, paper, printer quality and application-specific rules; the receiving authority makes the decision.
Why must I print the PDF at Actual size or 100%?
Fit-to-page and similar printer settings scale the entire sheet and change every photo's physical dimensions. Print one test page at Actual size or 100%, disable extra scaling, and measure the width and height with a ruler before using the copies.

Prepare a photo crop and verify its physical print size

Crop one image and repeat it on a one-page printable PDF. Control its millimetre dimensions, paper, copy count, margins and spacing, then inspect the separate prepared JPG.

Presets supply dimensions, not approval. Check the receiving organisation's current instructions before choosing a size or editing a photo. The tool cannot judge face position, identity, expression, lighting, permitted alterations or acceptable printing methods.

Choose the crop, resolution and sheet independently

Choose an approach for your document
Your situationRecommended approach
You already have the required physical dimensionsChoose a matching preset or Custom size and enter millimetres. Custom width and height each support 20–100 mm.
The portrait needs repositioning within the cropAdjust Zoom, Horizontal position and Vertical position while watching the crop preview. Zoom removes more source area; it does not create a wider original or restore cropped-off features.
You are choosing between 300 and 600 DPICompare the crop's source pixels with the prepared output pixels. Higher resolution creates a denser image for the same physical size, but cannot add genuine source detail.
More copies are requested than the sheet can holdChange paper, spacing or copy count within acceptable print constraints. This tool creates one sheet, not an automatic multi-page batch of overflow copies.

Arrange eight synthetic crops on an A4 sheet

Use illustrated-portrait.png, a 600 × 800 synthetic illustration. This is a geometry and export example only; it is not an identity photo or evidence that an authority accepts the result.

  1. Choose illustrated-portrait.png. Select the India · 35 × 45 mm preset and 300 DPI prepared image resolution.
  2. Use Zoom 1.00× and centre both position controls. Confirm the crop preview before proceeding.
  3. Choose A4 paper, 8 copies, a 7 mm page margin and 4 mm gaps. Keep Light cutting border and Add corner cutting guides enabled.
  4. Select Create ID photo sheet PDF. Download both the printable PDF and cropped JPG; confirm eight copies on one A4 page and a 413 × 531 pixel crop.
  5. For a physical check, print the PDF at Actual size or 100%. Measure a photo with a ruler and compare it with 35 × 45 mm; do not use Fit to page.

Expected result. The JPG contains one prepared crop. The PDF places eight copies at the selected physical dimensions, with the border and cutting guides. Printer scaling can change the paper result even when the PDF's geometry is correct.

Check the downloaded result

  • Inspect the cropped JPG for lost hair, chin, shoulders or required surrounding space. A centred starting crop is not automatic face alignment.
  • Review the source-resolution warning. It compares crop pixels with target pixels; it does not measure focus, exposure, expression or official suitability.
  • Check the PDF's paper size, number of copies, margins and spacing. The on-page live preview is illustrative, not a physical-size ruler.
  • Print and measure one test copy before using a full sheet. Check the printer's scaling, paper selection and non-printable margins, then review the current destination requirements separately.

Troubleshooting

The printed photos measure too small or too large

The print dialog or printer driver may have scaled the PDF to fit paper or printable margins.

Try this: Select the matching paper and Actual size or 100%, disable fit or shrink options, and measure a new test print. A larger browser preview does not change print dimensions.

The tool reports that too many copies were selected

Capacity depends on photo size, paper size, margins and gaps. Copy count cannot exceed that layout or the overall 50-copy limit.

Try this: Use the displayed capacity, reduce copies or choose larger paper. Do not remove necessary printer margins merely to force another row to fit.

Source resolution may be too low

The current crop contains fewer pixels than the requested prepared image. Zooming in can cause this even when the full source is large.

Try this: Use a sharper, higher-resolution original, reduce unnecessary zoom or choose 300 DPI if appropriate. Upscaling to 600 DPI does not recover real facial detail.

A required part of the portrait is outside the crop

Fitting the selected aspect ratio removes excess source area, and zoom removes more. Position controls cannot reveal content absent from the source.

Try this: Reset crop position, reduce zoom and reposition the image. Use a better-framed original if the required composition still cannot fit.

Limits and compatibility

Print geometry, not certification
The PDF stores physical placement dimensions. The DPI choice sets prepared image pixels; it is not an assurance about standalone JPG print metadata, printer accuracy or application acceptance.
One source photo
One JPG, PNG or WebP source supplies every copy. The tool does not replace backgrounds, retouch faces, mix different portraits or create an automatic multi-page photo batch.

Your files and form values are processed on this device. Downloaded copies remain wherever you save them. See how to check local processing and our privacy policy for site data and optional services.

Common questions

Does 600 DPI make the photo physically larger?
No. The selected millimetres stay the same in the PDF. The prepared crop uses more pixels; this is useful only when the source has sufficient detail.
Should I print the JPG or the sheet PDF?
Use the PDF for this tool's physical sheet arrangement. The JPG is the individual crop; printing it separately requires its own verified size settings.
