Create a delivery challan for movement of goods

Prepare a Rule 55-oriented challan with consignor, consignee, goods, value, transport and conditional tax details, then generate locally marked PDF copies.

For a reliable result

  1. Choose the permitted movement reason, challan number, date, parties and inter-State place of supply where applicable.
  2. Add each goods line with HSN, quantity, unit and taxable value, then include tax only when the movement is for supply.
  3. Review transport references, triplicate copy setting, declaration and signatory before downloading the PDF.

What changes

The browser creates a new PDF without uploading the challan, logo or signature. It does not create, update or cancel an e-way bill on the government portal.

Check the download

Confirm that a delivery challan is permitted for the movement, then verify party registrations, HSN, quantity, value, tax treatment, vehicle or transport document, copy markings and actual signature.

Know before processing

A delivery challan is not a tax invoice, e-way bill or proof of supply. Generate the applicable e-way bill separately, carry the required documents and issue the proper invoice when the law or transaction requires one.

Quick answers

When can goods move under a delivery challan?
Rule 55 covers specified cases such as liquid gas with unknown quantity, job work, movement for reasons other than supply and other notified supplies. The generator also includes common e-way-bill movement reasons, but you must confirm that a challan is legally appropriate for the actual movement.
Does this generator create an e-way bill?
No. It creates only the supporting delivery-challan PDF. Where Rule 138 requires an e-way bill, generate it separately on the official system and ensure the challan, e-way bill and actual transport details agree.

Prepare a goods-movement record and inspect its marked copies

Create a delivery challan from party, goods and transport details, with calculated values and optional estimated tax. Generate one copy or three separately marked copies in a PDF.

The PDF does not confirm that this document is appropriate, goods were received or transport requirements were satisfied. Review the transaction and accompanying records separately. Selecting a reason describes your entry; it does not permit a movement.

Resolve the movement details before exporting

Choose an approach for your document
Your situationRecommended approach
The movement is not being recorded as a supplyChoose the actual reason and leave Movement is for supply off when appropriate. The resulting no-tax calculation is a tool setting, not a tax exemption decision.
You select Movement is for supplyReview registration, place of supply and entered tax rates. The tool requires all three marked copies in this mode, but does not determine the correct legal treatment.
The exact quantity is not yet knownUse Quantity is provisional only when it accurately describes the record. You must still enter a positive quantity; the label does not measure or reconcile the final goods.
Transport references are already availableEnter the appropriate vehicle, transport-document and e-way bill references. The tool records those values without registering a movement or checking official records.

Generate three copies of a synthetic job-work challan

The delivery-challan-generator-example.json reference lists fictional manual-entry values. It is not imported into the page, and the sample does not document an actual shipment.

  1. Set Challan number to DC-EXAMPLE-001 and date to 2026-09-07. Enter Example Studio as consignor and Example Workshop as consignee, copying their sample addresses. Select Karnataka for both states and leave registration off.
  2. Select Job work, leave Movement is for supply and Quantity is provisional off, and keep Create all three marked copies enabled.
  3. Enter one goods line: Example sample boxes, HSN 4819, Quantity 2, Unit NOS, Taxable unit value 500 and GST rate 0. The sample code is illustrative, not a classification recommendation.
  4. Enter Example Signatory as Authorised signatory. Keep Road transport with blank references. Copy the sample's fictional declaration and notes; leave optional logo and signature images empty.
  5. Select Create delivery challan PDF. Open each marked copy and compare the goods line, declared value, parties and acknowledgement area.

Expected result. The sample's two units at INR 500 give a declared consignment value of INR 1,000, with no calculated tax. The short example produces three A4 pages: Original for consignee, Duplicate for transporter and Triplicate for consignor.

Check the downloaded result

  • Match descriptions, HSN, units and quantities with the actual goods. The tool checks basic entry formats, not classification, measurement or stock availability.
  • Review party registration settings, states and place of supply separately. The calculator uses these selected values; it does not determine them from the transaction.
  • Check every copy label and continuation page. Three copies can mean more than three pages when each copy contains a long goods list.
  • Inspect transport references, declaration, receiver acknowledgement and signatory areas. Descriptions and other text have bounded printed space and may end with an ellipsis.

Troubleshooting

GST is absent despite entering a rate

Tax calculation depends on Movement is for supply and the consignor's registered status, not just the line's rate.

Try this: Check the settings against the actual transaction. Do not change registration or supply status merely to force a desired total; use an appropriate reviewed workflow when this model does not fit.

The tool requires three copies or an invoice reference

The current validation requires triplicate for the selected supply mode and an invoice reference for the SKD/CKD/batch-or-lot reason.

Try this: Supply the actual required details or correct an incorrectly selected mode. Passing these checks does not establish that all movement obligations are satisfied.

A GSTIN, HSN or e-way bill reference is rejected

The page checks identifier format, GSTIN state-prefix consistency, a 2–8 digit HSN and a 12-digit e-way bill reference when one is entered.

Try this: Copy the value carefully from the underlying record and verify it through the appropriate source. A format match alone does not confirm that an identifier exists or is active.

A goods description is shortened in the PDF

Goods descriptions use bounded wrapped lines; long wording can be shortened even though the item itself remains in the table.

Try this: Use concise identifying descriptions and retain detailed specifications separately. Inspect each copy to ensure essential identifiers are still visible.

Limits and compatibility

No official submission
This local PDF is not a tax invoice, e-way bill, delivery confirmation or official registration response. A typed signatory or placed signature image does not authenticate a person.
Entry and session limits
The interface allows up to 30 goods lines and English-compatible PDF text. It has no inventory connection, saved challan register or JSON import. Save the reviewed output and source records before leaving.

Your files and form values are processed on this device. Downloaded copies remain wherever you save them. See how to check local processing and our privacy policy for site data and optional services.

Common questions

Will the tool send each copy to its named recipient?
No. It generates the marked copies in one local PDF. Distribution and acknowledgement happen outside this page.
Does entering an e-way bill number generate one?
No. The field records an existing reference only. Generation, verification and any necessary updates belong in the applicable official workflow.
