Create a standard India GST tax invoice

Enter supplier, customer and supply details, then let the browser calculate ordinary domestic CGST and SGST or IGST before creating a validated A4 PDF.

For a reliable result

  1. Enter the invoice number, registered supplier, customer and place-of-supply details.
  2. Add each item or service with its correct HSN or SAC, quantity, rate, discount and GST rate.
  3. Review the calculated tax mode and totals, then create and download the A4 invoice PDF.

What changes

The generator creates a new PDF and does not file data with GST systems. A saved supplier profile remains only in this browser when you explicitly save it.

Check the download

Verify GSTINs, invoice sequence, HSN or SAC classification, tax rates, place of supply, reverse-charge status and totals against your records before issuing the invoice.

Know before processing

This is not an IRP e-invoice, IRN, official QR code, e-way bill, GST return or tax-advice service. It covers ordinary domestic invoices and currently exports English text with common punctuation.

Quick answers

Does this create an official GST e-invoice or IRN?
No. It creates a standard A4 invoice PDF only. It does not connect to an Invoice Registration Portal, generate an IRN or signed official QR code, file a return or create an e-way bill.
How does it choose CGST and SGST or IGST?
For the ordinary domestic case covered here, the browser compares the supplier state with the selected place of supply. A match splits tax into CGST and SGST or UTGST; a difference applies IGST. Review special supplies separately.

Review invoice inputs before relying on calculated tax totals

Build an invoice from parties, quantities, rates, discounts and GST percentages. Supplier registration and the chosen place of supply determine the calculator's tax split; the tool does not determine those inputs for you.

Local PDF validation does not verify registration, classification or tax treatment. Check your records and current requirements before issuing an invoice. This tool does not submit returns, register an e-invoice or verify payment.

Separate arithmetic choices from compliance decisions

Choose an approach for your document
Your situationRecommended approach
The supplier is GST registeredEnter the actual registration details and supplier state. The page checks the GSTIN's format and state prefix, not its existence, status, ownership or checksum.
You need to select the tax splitConfirm the correct place of supply first. Matching supplier and place-of-supply states produce the local split in this calculator; different states produce IGST.
A discount applies to a lineEnter the percentage for that line. The tool calculates quantity times rate, subtracts the discount and applies the entered tax percentage to the resulting base.
The transaction needs reverse-charge handlingReview the workflow carefully. The reverse-charge switch adds a Yes/No label; it does not change the payable arithmetic or determine who must account for the tax.

Check an illustrative INR 2,000 base with a local tax split

The gst-invoice-generator-example.json file contains fictional manual-entry data. Its GSTIN is a format-only synthetic value and its 18% rate is an arithmetic example, not a verified registration or tax-rate recommendation. This page has no JSON import.

  1. Set Invoice number to INV-EXAMPLE-001 and date to 2026-09-07. Enter Example Studio and its sample address, select Karnataka, keep supplier registration on and enter synthetic GSTIN 29AAAAA0000A1Z5.
  2. Enter Example Client and the sample billing address, select Karnataka for the customer and place of supply, and leave customer registration off.
  3. Add Example consultation with sample HSN/SAC 998399, Quantity 2, Unit NOS, Rate 1000, Discount 0 and GST rate 18. These sample codes and labels do not classify a real service.
  4. Turn rounding and reverse charge off, omit logo and signature images, and set Notes to Synthetic example only - not a real transaction. Select Create GST invoice PDF.
  5. Check the downloaded base, both local tax amounts, final total, party states and amount in words. Do not issue the fictional example as a real invoice.

Expected result. Two units at INR 1,000 produce a base of INR 2,000. With the entered 18% rate and matching Karnataka state selections, the calculator shows INR 180 CGST and INR 180 SGST, giving INR 2,360 payable.

Check the downloaded result

  • Compare every party detail, identifier, HSN/SAC, quantity, unit and rate with the source transaction. A successful format check does not validate a business or classify a supply.
  • Recalculate at least one line and inspect discount, taxable value, tax split and rounding adjustment. The final rounding switch changes the payable amount to the nearest rupee, not each unit rate.
  • Check the invoice number against your own records. Default numbering and repeated exports do not provide a unique invoice register or prevent duplicate issuance.
  • Open all PDF pages and review full party blocks, item descriptions and notes. Descriptions use up to four wrapped lines; bounded fields can end with an ellipsis and omit longer text.

Troubleshooting

The tax split differs from what I expected

The calculator compares the supplier state with Place of supply, not simply the customer's address or state.

Try this: Check the place-of-supply decision against the actual transaction and appropriate guidance. Do not switch states solely to force a desired tax label.

GST disappears or the heading becomes INVOICE

When supplier registration is off, this implementation calculates no GST and uses the general invoice heading.

Try this: Check the actual registration setting. Use a suitable reviewed workflow if your transaction requires a document or treatment this simplified model does not support.

The GSTIN or invoice number is rejected

GSTIN format and state-prefix checks must pass for registered parties. Invoice numbers support 1–16 letters, numbers, hyphens or slashes.

Try this: Copy values from reliable records and correct accidental spaces or state mismatches. Do not invent an identifier to bypass validation.

A saved supplier is missing or outdated

Save profile stores only supplier fields in this browser's local storage. It is not cloud sync, an invoice draft or a saved collection of customers and items.

Try this: Use Load saved only after checking those details. Re-enter the supplier when storage is unavailable or cleared, and use Clear saved on a shared browser when appropriate.

Limits and compatibility

Unsupported automation
There is no official GSTIN lookup, HSN classification, IRN or QR registration, return filing, payment collection or certificate-backed signing. Turnover guidance is a prompt to check requirements, not comprehensive validation.
Local document limits
The interface allows up to 30 lines and English-compatible PDF text. Optional JPG/PNG logo and signature files are limited to 2 MB each. Save the PDF and records yourself; only an explicitly saved supplier profile persists.

Your files and form values are processed on this device. Downloaded copies remain wherever you save them. See how to check local processing and our privacy policy for site data and optional services.

Common questions

Does choosing a GST percentage confirm it is correct?
No. The page calculates the percentage you enter. Confirm classification, rate, place of supply and any special treatment before relying on the result.
Does Save profile save the complete invoice?
No. It saves supplier fields only in the current browser. Customers, items, invoice numbers, logo and signature images are not included in that profile.
